Exterior Insulation Finish System (EIFS)
EIFSmart-Certified Contractor
As an EIFSmart-certified contractor, Paramount Contracting is skilled in completing assemblies involving Exterior Insulation and Finish System, commonly called EIFS.
Exterior Insulation Finish System (EIFS) in Focus
EIFS is a non-load-bearing, exterior wall cladding system that consists of an insulation board attached adhesively or mechanically or both to the substrate, an integrally reinforced base coat and a textured protective finish coat.
EIFS, which emerged in the 1980s, is known by many as a modern version of stucco, with a layer beneath it to provide thermal insulation. An air and vapor barrier (AVB) is applied to foam and a cementitious product. The result is a system that combines insulation with the appearance and durability of stucco. EIFS, however, is sturdier compared with stucco, resisting cracking. It’s also lighter in weight and less labor intensive to apply. Beyond attractive aesthetic value, EIFS also provides a water barrier. EIFS systems offer continuous insulation by design providing improved building efficiency. EIFS systems also can provide budget friendly alternatives to costly brick, metal panel, stone veneer and other exterior claddings.

At Paramount Contracting, we strive to exceed our clients’ expectations. Discover all the ways we approach our contracting jobs that help us excel in our craft.
We Can Help Secure Enhanced Insurance Policies and Longer Warranties From Manufacturers
As an EIFSmart-certified contractor, Paramount Contracting is able to secure better insurance plans and longer warranties compared with our Greater Lancaster competitors, few of whom are EIFSmart-certified contractors.
To be an EIFSmart-certified contractor, 40 percent or more of a contractor’s installers must be trained and tested in demonstrating dedication and commitment to providing high-quality EIFS installations. In some cases, Paramount Contracting can lock in 10-year warranties from manufacturers whereas our competitors’ warranties run only a single year. Our enhanced insurance policies and longer warranties give our clients peace of mind and can result in cost savings in the event an EIFS job were to break down but is still covered by an ample and extended warranty.
Our Value Engineering Can Provide Cost Savings
Many of our competitors are restricted to installing EIFS over metal framing only. Additionally, because the Paramount Contracting team can tackle EIFS installation and metal stud framing jobs, we can provide an exceptional level of value engineering to our work. Our strategic recommendations can result in considerable cost savings for our clients.
Paramount is also an EIMA Member:
Air Vapor Barriers
Air Vapor Barriers, or AVB can often be designed as an air barrier, a vapor barrier, a bulk-water barrier or some a combination of the three.
Paramount Contracting is experienced in the application of AVB as part of our EIFS assemblies but also as a stand-alone scope behind other claddings. This is often an advantage in an installation where two different claddings meet on the same plane and may be installed by two different trade partners but the AVB is designed to be continuous.
